Meditation is a lifelong practice
that brings us back to the present.

Truth is a pathless land.

J. Krishnamurti

Over the years, I have experienced the depth and truthfulness of this statement by J. Krishnamurti in my own practice.

That is why I find it difficult to call myself a “teacher” in the traditional sense. I have come to realize that most of us begin our journey through teachings and practices shared by others. Yet somewhere along the way, teachings themselves can become a barrier to directly experiencing the silence and peace within. This is a paradox that slowly reveals itself through the journey.

I see myself simply as a fellow seeker of peace, stillness, and self‑realization. There are moments when I deeply experience what masters like Eckhart Tolle, Ramana Maharshi, J. Krishnamurti, and Osho point towards: a timeless sense of presence and awareness beyond thoughts and emotions. At the same time, I also find myself getting caught in fears, desires, habits, and the ups and downs of everyday life. In that sense, the search still continues, and many questions remain unanswered. Somewhere within, however, there is also a quiet sense of presence that feels timeless and deeply real.

Whatever I share through Idanim comes from my own observations, experiences, struggles, and moments of insight along the way - inspired by the pointers shared by many masters.

If you are deeply interested in peace, or if the question “Who am I?” genuinely stirs something within you, then I invite you to this adventurous journey into the unknown.

Raman Mittal is a meditation teacher, entrepreneur, and the co-founder of Idanim, one of India's leading meditation apps. He has spent over a decade studying and practising mindfulness, Vipassana, and self-awareness practices, and now teaches thousands of people how to find inner stillness through structured meditation. His work is rooted in the idea that meditation is not an escape from life, it's a way of living it more fully.
Raman teaches a range of meditation practices including mindfulness meditation, Vipassana, Anapanasati (breath awareness), Om Chanting, and Sakshi Bhav (the practice of becoming a witness to your own thoughts). His approach blends classical techniques with everyday practicality, making meditation accessible for both beginners and experienced practitioners.
Yes. Mindfulness meditation is at the core of Raman's teachings. He guides students to develop present-moment awareness, the ability to observe thoughts, emotions, and sensations without getting swept away by them. This practice forms the foundation of his online courses, retreats, and 1-1 sessions.
Raman's teachings on spiritual growth are grounded in the understanding that real transformation begins with self-awareness. He encourages students to turn inward and witness their own mental patterns with Sakshi Bhav (witness consciousness), before seeking answers outside. Spiritual growth, in his view, is not about achieving a state; it's about consistently returning to presence.
You can learn meditation from Raman through multiple pathways: his guided meditation sessions on the Idanim app, his online meditation courses for beginners and advanced practitioners, live meditation retreats held across India, and personalised 1-1 guidance sessions. Each format is designed to meet you where you are in your practice.

Raman Mittal is the co-founder of Idanim and has been an active meditator for over a decade. His personal journey into meditation began as a search for inner clarity amid the demands of entrepreneurship. This led him to study under various meditation teachers and explore traditions including Vipassana, mindfulness, and Vedantic self-inquiry. He now shares these learnings with a growing community of practitioners across India and beyond.
Raman's teachings have been shaped by a diverse set of teachers and traditions, including Vipassana teachers in the lineage of S.N. Goenka, mindfulness educators, and masters of Advaita Vedanta. He also draws from conversations with spiritual teachers from around the world, several of which are shared as interviews on this website. His approach synthesises these influences into a practical, accessible framework for modern life.
Raman's practice and teachings draw from multiple spiritual traditions and teachings of Eckhart Tolle, J. Krishnamoorti, Ramanna Maharishi, Osho apart from Buddhist practices (particularly Vipassana and Anapanasati), Advaita Vedanta (the practice of self-inquiry and Sakshi Bhav), and the broader mindfulness movement. Rather than aligning strictly with one tradition, Raman's approach distills the essence of these practices into something that is relevant and usable for people living in the modern world.
